The Wasatch range in Utah are more of a moderate range when it comes to rainfall. They get amazing amounts of snow, but its so light and fluffy the actual precipitation level isn’t dramatically high. The fluffy powder makes for better skiing, but it doesn’t mean that there is more moisture falling from the heavens. It is very green in the summer months, and it contrasts well with the valleys that are very dry and desert like. However, they are nothing compared to the greenery found in the Pacific Northwest. Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia have them beat.
When my wife and I go on a holiday, we often wait until the last minute to book a trip. One reason for this is that we are just procrastinators. My daughter has been working in an apprentice program in Hong Kong for the last six months. I guess she wanted to see with her own eyes, and bingo, it only took me one hour to fish a barracuda, and on our way to the shore… a big trout (my wife tried to unhook it and she let it go).
Once in Havana, we booked another fishing tour, but unfortunately this time, I went alone (still caught a few snappers and a few empty cans). I left marina Hemingway in Western Havana in a fishing yacht. Quite quickly we were in deep waters.
The skipper and the crew located a school of sardines; we waited for some predator to come, a bluefin tuna or barracuda, but no luck. Only a few sharks came. Anyway as any good fisherman when there’s not luck we opened some beers and bragged about previous good fortune.
I have to say that both tours were good value for money, exciting and definitely full of fun. I heard there are other great fishing areas in Cuba so next time (there will be next time), I will try them all and keep proving my wife… I am a good fisherman.
